Commissions mature after a 30-day refund hold, then pay out monthly by Stripe, PayPal or ACH once you pass $25.
Commission structure
What you earn
Every rate is a percentage of Off The Map's published prices. One-time work pays 15%, monthly retainers pay 10% per month, and Compass subscriptions pay 20%, recurring for the life of the account.

Studio commission rules
- 15% on one-time creator packages and à la carte items. The $750 Foundation Kit pays you $112.50.
- 10% per month on retainers for the client's first three active months. A $900/mo retainer pays $270 in total.
- 10% on brand, corporate and digital projects, billed as custom work.
- * Retainer and project commissions are capped at $500 per referred client.
- Commissions become payable after a 30-day refund hold, then go out on the next monthly payout run. A refund inside that window voids the commission.
- Retainer commission pauses if the client pauses service, and resumes if they return within 90 days. Minimum payout: $25.

Compass commission rules
- 20% recurring for the lifetime of the subscriber. Studio at $149/mo pays you $29.80 every month they stay.
- Commissions run as long as the customer keeps an active subscription.
- If a subscriber changes tiers, your commission follows the new tier.
- Commission pauses on paused subscriptions and resumes when they reactivate.
- Compass is in private beta; commissions begin when paid subscriptions open. Minimum payout: $25.
The fine print, up front
What counts as a valid referral
Clear rules so there are no surprises at payout time.
Counts
- The client uses your referral code at intake, or signs up through your tracking link.
- The client completes payment of their first invoice or subscription charge.
- Compass referrals are net-new accounts with no existing trial or paid history.
Doesn't count
- Self-referrals.
- Referring existing Off The Map clients to new services. Established relationships are excluded.
- Compass accounts that already had a free trial or prior paid history.
Say that you earn a commission. US law (the FTC Endorsement Guides) requires anyone recommending a product for a reward to disclose it clearly. "I earn a referral fee if you book through my link" is enough. Partners who hide the relationship are removed from the program.

Getting paid and staying in the loop
Payout schedule
- Commissions mature after a 30-day refund hold, so a refund can be clawed back before payout, never after.
- On the 1st of each month, all matured commissions are tallied.
- Payouts are processed by the 7th of each month.
- Payment methods: Stripe (domestic), PayPal (international), or ACH bank transfer.
- Minimum payout: $25 accumulated balance.

Every partner gets an affiliate dashboard inside Compass showing:
- Total referrals sent and how many converted.
- Active monthly recurring commissions.
- Total earned to date and full payout history.
- Your unique referral link and QR code.

Terms summary
Program terms
The short version. Full terms are provided to active partners on acceptance.
- Off The Map may reject any referral that does not meet the program terms.
- Commission rates may be modified with 30 days' notice to active partners.
- The rate in effect when a referral is made is locked for that referral's payout window.
- Partners may not use Off The Map branding in paid advertising without written permission.
- Partners must clearly disclose the referral relationship when recommending Off The Map or Compass.
- The program may be discontinued with 60 days' notice, with pending commissions honored.
